Technical Author - Flexibility to work from Home

Salary - £40,000 - £50,000

A Technical Author is needed for a leading Fintech company that is rapidly expanding globally and offering an opportunity for an incredible career with a massive upward trajectory.

About the role:

The team you will be joining creates and maintains online assistance for their products. The online assistance is used by their clients and colleagues to understand, configure and use their software. As a Technical Author, you will be responsible for creating, updating and reviewing online help articles, ensuring that our users can access helpful, up-to-date information quickly and easily.

What you will be doing:

  • Writing user assistance
  • Writing product feature descriptions
  • Writing client-facing mailshots
  • Updating documentation in line with changes to the software
  • Updating project/regulatory information
  • Updating technical reference documentation
  • Updating internal team documentation
  • Reviewing documentation
  • Taking ownership for specific functional areas
  • Carrying out pre-publication checks
  • Publishing online and PDF resources
  • Working with product owners to understand which functional area and roadmaps need changing
  • Working with solution delivery teams to understand changes to the software and delivery timelines

What you will need to have:

  • A minimum of 2 years work experience as a technical author, writing task-based procedures for online help.
  • Experience of using technical writing software e.g. MadCap Flare.
  • Confidence using email, document, spreadsheet and messaging software.
  • Excellent standard of written English
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to quality, attention to detail and a thorough and conscientious approach to work
  • Willingness to research and learn new topics
  • Have an ability to interpret technical terminology and produce literature for business users
  • Excellent problem solver
  • Quick learner
  • Have an analytical mind and inquisitive nature
  • Have a logical and structured approach to presenting information

A 'nice to have':

  • Experience writing for fintech software
  • Experience copywriting for sales/marketing
  • Experience of the Wealth Management and/or IT industries
  • Experience using Git source control
  • Experience working with HTML/CSS/Javascript
