Junior Project Manager - Needs to be based either in Edinburgh, Birmingham or Newcastle

A Junior Project Manager is needed for a leading Fintech company that is rapidly expanding globally and offering an opportunity for an incredible career with a massive upward trajectory.

About the role:

You will be responsible for learning the E2E management of projects to contracted time, quality, and budget requirements.

This will involve understanding the leadership of a distributed project and working within a team in multiple locations.

Learn and understand proactive identification, management and resolution of risks and issues throughout the full project lifecycle.

This will involve being part of a delivery team for single large scale project or multiple smaller projects. 

This is a client facing role and requires the ability to build strong relationships with customers, often at a senior level.

What your team will be responsible for:

  • Leading, managing and motivating in multiple geographic locations, communicating project progress, and ensuring you take accountability for your delivery.
  • The culture of continuous improvement on projects, supporting process improvement initiatives, and identifying new process improvements.
  • Being an active member of the PM community, contributing to team sessions and central improvement initiatives, and sharing best practice and lessons learned.

What you will be doing:

  • Managing the delivery of your projects through full project lifecycles, from initiation through to the implementation process.
  • Ensuring the projects deliver in-line with our client's SDLC and PLC.
  • Developing and maintaining an E2E project plan that delivers the agreed scope of the project to time, budget and quality criteria.
  • Providing timely, precise, accurate and comprehensive project MI and reporting to the PMO, Head of Delivery and Account Director as required.
  • Identifying and managing risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies through the full project lifecycle. Ensure mitigation plans are in place for all risks and issues, and take ownership for ensuring these mitigation plans are executed, or escalate to the Account Director or Head of Delivery as is appropriate.
  • Ensuring project changes are managed in line with their SDLC and PLC, and all commercial changes to the project are agreed with the Account Director.
  • Ensuring all 3rd party suppliers are engaged appropriately and contracts are in place and managed to ensure the required outcomes for our client.
  • Ensuring all operational readiness activities are undertaken in line with their SDLC and PLC, and that appropriate training and handover takes place ahead of implementation.
  • Ensuring the project conducts a post implementation review and that lessons learned are captured and shared with the rest of the PM community.

What you will need to have:

  • First Class Honours Degree, Masters, MBA or equivalent. 
  • 1-2 years' of Project management experience
  • Need to understand investments & pensions project delivery
  • Understanding of managing stakeholders across business and externally
  • Knowledge of dealing with 3rd party suppliers and resource consultants
  • Willingness to demonstrate leadership skills
