Olly joined us after being a successful Team Lead at his previous company. With over 5 years of recruitment experience, we wanted him to head up our permanent division.
It’s not exactly an average day. Every day is different here, made up of the incredible work we do for our clients, but also my colleagues that make this a great place to be.
You just can’t predict how a day, week or month will go. There are tough times in this job but they’re made that much sweeter when the high times come. The rewards in the industry are the best I’ve come across.
The ambition. There is no limit to what we want to achieve here and it takes a special group of people to make that happen. As long as everyone is aligned to the same goal, everything is achievable.
Helping my team succeed. Easily one of the best parts of this job is to help my team improve every day. I very quickly realised in my early years of recruitment that my best quality is placing others before myself. I know, strange for a sales job to have that mentality, but if I can help my team achieve a mutual goal, then we all benefit and working closely with individuals is something I really enjoy and thrive off.
Time. There is just not enough time in the day to get everything done. It takes real discipline and experience to learn when to switch off because if you don’t, then you won’t maintain a work/life balance which is so important.
Put simply, the trust that you have to actually perform your job in the way that you believe is best. It’s easy for businesses to become a little to hands on with how they want you to work because they will have a way that has always been successful for them, and that’s fine. However, Consortia have given me the freedom to run the permanent division in the way that I believe is best and it's worked wonders. Not only have we improved as a team, but I’ve actually realised more strengths (and some weaknesses) about myself by just performing the role.
Helping the permanent team become a serious force again, not only within Consortia, but within our niche markets. We have an identity and I can’t wait to see us go from strength to strength in the future.
