Describe an average day at Consortia

No two days are the same but typically speaking an average day includes a daily stand up with the wider team to discuss any issues and key areas of focus for the day followed by client development time, whether that’s building new relationships or building on existing ones. I also have to factor in talking to numerous candidates to ensure I can deliver across the vacancies I am recruiting for and regular check-ins with the rest of the team to make sure everything is running smoothly.

What is it about recruitment that you enjoy the most?

The challenge. I have worked in many different environments and can honestly say that recruitment is for me the most challenging and yet most rewarding profession. Whilst the fundamentals of the job remain the same, no two days ever are.

What is the best thing about working at Consortia?

We have a great team of passionate recruiters with a mixed level of experience from 6 months to 13 years. There is a strong desire internally for everyone to be doing well and each consultant is always on offer to provide help, information or guidance when needed. We are constantly trying to be better and listen to everyone regardless of their experience to assess where things can be improved.

What is the most interesting part of your job?

Working with some of the best known brands and companies in the UK and helping them build amazing user experience teams. Working in user experience I can see the impact that the people I have placed on products I use everyday.

What are the challenges of your job?

Managing a team and delivering talent for my clients is as tough as it is rewarding. I am constantly shifting focus from helping a team member overcome an obstacle in their day, planning our next training session, building relationships with new or existing clients, meeting clients or candidates face to face, candidate sourcing and much more. I could use an extra 8 hours in the day.

How does this role differ from ones you’ve had in the past?

It is the variety involved with every day that is the main difference. From advising a FTSE 100 on their recruitment strategy to attract the top tier talent in the UX space or helping a start-up secure the talent that will take their business to the next evolution. Advising candidates on how to ace an interview or refine their CV’s for maximum impact. Coaching and mentoring team members and seeing them flourish.

What is your proudest achievement so far?

Helping to grow the company from two people to its current size, moving through various offices to allow for the growth and establishing user experience as a cornerstone of our business.
